Impact North Shore stands with immigrant and migrant communities who are deeply affected by the human rights violations and systemic state violence in Iran and other countries. With heavy hearts we acknowledge the loss of life and the ongoing attacks on the rights of young women and people of all genders globally. We uphold the courageous people who challenge systemic violence, oppression, and sexism.
In times of crises in our countries of origin we as im/migrants feel extensive pain, grief, and activation of trauma as our hearts are with our beloved families, friends and communities in our homelands. Restrictions on access to news and information and limited connections to loved ones intensifies distress. Impact North Shore calls on the Canadian government to create new pathways to safety for those wishing to find sanctuary in Canada and expedite existing im/migration applications for permanent and temporary residency in this challenging time.
