Shaping BC’s Anti-Racism Act Together

Posted on

Impact North Shore is one of 68 organizations to be tasked by the government of British Columbia to help shape anti-racism legislation through community engagement. Our equity, diversity and inclusion community work is an integral piece of how we are building equitable communities.

On September 7, we will be hosting a virtual community consultation to collect input directly from community members to inform legislation, policy and action plans for dismantling systemic racism and advancing racial equity in government policies, programs and services. Registration for this consultation is open now.

As a front-line organization we have the opportunity to amplify the voices of the people that will be most affected by the new Anti-Racism Act, to be introduced in 2024. Centering the lived experiences of those who have been marginalized by the harms of racism will hold the provincial government accountable for addressing systemic racism within its programs and services.

Our provincial government has already launched the Anti-Racism Questionnaire to gather additional public input. Available online in 15 languages, including Farsi, Mandarin, Korean, and Tagalog, the questionnaire is open until September 30 and takes only 10 minutes to complete.  Provide your feedback here: https://engage.gov.bc.ca/antiracism
