Community Engagement

Fostering Inclusion and Safety for LGBTQIA+ Im/migrants

Contribute to creating safe and welcoming spaces

This session will empower you with the knowledge to better understand diverse communities and contribute to creating inclusive spaces in Canada. Whether you’re new to these concepts or looking to deepen your understanding, this workshop is a valuable opportunity to learn and grow.

As a result of findings through surveys and focus groups, specific challenges were identified for LGBTQIA+ im/migrants. The top three challenges were social isolation (70%), housing (58%), and health concerns (43%).

We believe in a North Shore where everyone belongs. Driven by a commitment to build inclusive and equitable communities and create opportunities for success and belonging for all im/migrants, we invite you to join us in this session.

We will provide a foundational overview of:

  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)
  • Introduction to the BC Human Rights Code, connecting to LGBTQIA+ inclusion
  • LGBTQIA+ terminology
