Supporting Professional Immigrants on the North Shore

Posted on

Immigrants are vital contributors to Canada’s economic growth and community vitality. They bring skills, experience, and fresh perspectives that strengthen workplaces, foster innovation, and enrich the social fabric of our communities. At Impact North Shore, we believe that helping professional im/migrants connect to their field of work in Canada benefits not only individuals but also our shared future.

Across Canada, immigrants play a key role in sustaining the workforce and driving economic progress. Over 55% of North Shore immigrants hold degrees, and 72% of recent immigrants arrived through the economic class. In 2021, Stats Canada shared that 64% of recent immigrants and temporary residents on the North Shore were between the ages of 25 and 54, the core working-age group that powers our local economy. By contributing a significant share of working-age professionals, immigrants support labour market growth, innovation, and the tax base that sustains public services and infrastructure.

To help professional immigrants successfully connect with their professional fields, Impact North Shore offers specialized employment services, mentoring opportunities, and advanced English language training. These programs equip newcomers with the tools they need to navigate the Canadian workplace, strengthen professional communication, and build the confidence to pursue meaningful careers aligned with their expertise.

Our upcoming Networking Event on December 2 is one of the many ways we help build these vital connections. The event offers a space for professional im/migrants to connect, collaborate, and expanding their networks as they discover new career opportunities.

By investing in inclusive opportunities and supporting skilled newcomers reach their potential, we strengthen the economic wellbeing of our region.
