Conversation Circles
Our Conversation Circles provide opportunities for you to learn the English language in a casual environment with an instructor and make new friends. We offer general conversation circles, as well as specialized conversation circles for the workplace and for seniors.
Workplace English Language Training
We offer English classes and workshops specifically for workplace English skills. These programs help you learn effective communication, workplace culture, and help you develop other soft skills necessary for success in the Canadian workplace.
Family Literacy
In our Immigrant Parents as Literacy Supporters program, we help parents learn how to support their young children in learning English speaking, reading, writing, numeracy, and social skills in the Canadian school environment.
Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
We are a CELPIP testing centre for Paragon Testing Enterprises. CELPIP is an English language proficiency test designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent resident status in Canada and Canadian citizenship. Please visit the CELPIP website to register.
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)
Impact North Shore offers LINC classes, which are free government-funded English classes for eligible immigrants. In these classes, you will improve your English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills and learn how to communicate effectively in English. These classes cover a variety of Settlement-related fields to help you gain practical knowledge about life in Canada. Topics include:
- Daily Life
- Health
- Employment
- Education
- Housing
- Connecting to the community
- And more
We offer LINC classes from Literacy to CLB (Canadian Level Benchmarks) level 7. Classes are available to anyone who is a newcomer to Canada, is approved for Permanent Residence and is 17 years of age or older.
