Impact North Shore is proud to announce the launch of a new Racial Equity section on our website: an accessible, action-oriented hub designed to help community partners, employers, and organizations across the North Shore take meaningful steps toward equity and inclusion.
Everyone has a role to play in creating communities free from racism and discrimination. These new resources, developed in collaboration with local service organizations, community leaders, and partners, offer practical tools and guidance for individuals and organizations committed to building equitable spaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
The Racial Equity section includes three key resources:
These self-directed online modules offer a foundational understanding of racism, its history, and its effects today. Participants can explore four learning areas: Understanding Racism in Canada, Racism on the North Shore, Racism and Immigration, and Racism and Colonization. Each module includes a short video, reflection questions, and a quiz to check understanding. The reflection questions are at the heart of this resource, inviting learners to look inward, challenge assumptions, and begin the difficult but essential conversations that move us closer to racial equity.
Designed for organizations, this curated toolkit provides knowledge, strategies, and actionable tools to advance racial equity. It includes four sections: Building Knowledge About Racial Equity; Creating Anti-Racism and Equity Statements, Strategies, and Plans; Taking Actions to Advance Racial Equity; and Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration. Each resource, whether a guide, video, or template, is accompanied by a summary and suggestions for practical use.
This innovative framework applies a “community garden” approach to racial equity: cultivating collaboration, growth, and shared responsibility. The strategy is rooted in eight essential factors that emphasize long-term, community-driven change through connection to land, shared learning, and collective action.
We invite all organizations, institutions, and businesses on the North Shore to explore these resources and take action toward racial equity. Together, we can grow a more inclusive and equitable community for all.
