Championing Newcomers: Expanded Support Programs at Impact North Shore

Posted on

Newcomers bring a wealth of experience, skills, and cultural diversity to our communities and workforce. We are proud to announce the expansion and enhancement of our programs designed specifically for vulnerable newcomers, temporary residents, and migrant workers.

These initiatives, including the BC NSP (BC Newcomer Services Program), SAF HAVN (BC Services and Assistance for Humanitarian and Vulnerable Newcomers), and CCBP (Community Capacity Building Project), are designed to ensure that newcomers and their families feel welcomed and valued within our community.

With the appointment of dedicated program managers, our support initiatives for temporary residents have been strengthened to better meet the employment needs of newcomers. This growth allows us to enhance our service offerings and reach more individuals, ensuring that every newcomer receives the support they need to thrive.

Our expanded temporary resident programs encompass a wide range of services designed to support newcomers and foster a sense of belonging:

  1. BC NSP (BC Newcomer Services Program): Eligible supports such as employment counselling and networking opportunities for work permit holders, study permit holders, naturalized Canadian citizens, and certain individuals with other immigration statuses. Learn more about program details on our website.
  2. BC Safe Haven (BC Services and Assistance for Humanitarian and Vulnerable Newcomers): Eligible programs such as settlement employment training counselling and English-language education opportunities for refugee claimants, asylum seekers, CUAET Visa holders, and refugees.
  3. CCBP (Community Capacity Building Project): Providing resources and training to community organizations to better serve migrant workers. Supporting migrant workers with settlement, employment, and Employment rights and protection act.
