North Shore Job Fair Connects Im/migrants and Local Employers

Posted on

Impact North Shore was proud to host our second job fair of 2023 in November, held at the Lynn Valley Centre. This event was organized by our Employment Services team and brought together employers from various sectors and im/migrant job seekers. Over 600 newcomers registered for the event, and representatives from 10 employers shared information about opportunities in their organizations, as well as their hiring and onboarding processes, and more. Job fairs provide an important opportunity for newcomers to build their professional networks, learn about different sectors, and meet with potential employers. Thank you to these employers for partnering with us to build pathways for im/migrants to connect to the local job market: RBC, Bayshore Home Health, Cypress Mountain, Vancouver Coastal Health, Starbucks, Winners, Save on Foods, Capilano University, Scotiabank, Purdy’s Chocolatier, RCMP, and Salvation Army.

Job fairs like this offer important opportunities for local employers to tap into im/migrant talent pool. According to the BC government, “B.C. is expecting one million job openings over the next decade, 387,000 of which are expected to be filled by newcomers to the province.”
