Reciprocity of Supporting: Harness the Power of Volunteering

Posted on

Impact North Shore is thrilled to announce the upcoming Volunteer Fair on September 21

This event is an opportunity to learn about the many volunteer opportunities available throughout the community and to celebrate and shine a light on the benefits that supporting volunteering brings.

Volunteering with Impact North Shore

Volunteers are the backbone of many organizations and Impact North Shore is no exception. Their dedication and passion significantly enhance our capacity to serve the community. Volunteers offer vital support:

  • Leading Community Connections conversation circles. Through this program volunteers provide guidance on how to connect comfortably with people in their community using English and provide opportunities for intercultural exchange so participants can share and learn about local customs and culture.
  • Providing valuable support to our Employment Programs, which provide newcomer participants with assistance on how to navigate a pathway to successful employment in Canada.
  • Supporting the programs, activities, and events of our Youth Services. These services are geared towards helping youth and their families adjust to life in Canada.

The Value of Volunteering for the Whole Community

For im/migrants, volunteering is a powerful tool for integration. It provides a platform to showcase their skills, gain local experience, and connect with the community. This involvement helps them build confidence, improve language proficiency, and navigate the Canadian job market more effectively. Additionally, it creates a sense of belonging and purpose, which is vital for overall well-being.

Volunteering also offers a unique opportunity for local organizations to engage with the community while benefiting from the diverse skills and experiences that newcomers bring. When organizations incorporate volunteering into their operations, they not only increase their capacity but also foster a culture of inclusivity and community support. This collaboration creates a dynamic environment where im/migrants can apply their talents, gain Canadian work experience, and build valuable networks whilst supporting a cause they care about.
